A review of antenna designs for percutaneous microwave ablation

چکیده

Microwave (MW) antenna is a key element in microwave ablation (MWA) treatments as the means that energy delivered focused manner to tumor and its surrounding area. The results rise temperature lethal level, resulting cell death zone. delivery of hence success MWA closely dependent on structure antennas. Therefore, three design criteria, such expected zone pattern, efficiency delivery, minimization diameter antennas have been focus along evolution MW antenna. To further improve performance treatment various tumors through inventing novel antennas, this article reviews state-of-the-art summarizes development designs regarding criteria.

Percutaneous High Frequency Microwave Ablation of Uterine Fibroids: Systematic Review

Uterine fibroids are the most common benign pelvic tumor of the female genital tract and tend to increase with age; they cause menorrhagia, dysmenorrhea, pelvic pressure symptoms, back pain, and subfertility. Currently, the management is based mainly on medical or surgical approaches. The nonsurgical and minimally invasive therapies are emerging approaches that to the state of the art include u...

Computed tomography-guided percutaneous microwave ablation therapy for lung cancer.

This study evaluated the clinical efficacy and value of computed tomography (CT)-guided percutaneous microwave ablation therapy (PMAT) for lung cancer without surgical treatment. A total of 39 lesions in 29 patients with peripheral lung cancer were treated by CT-guided PMAT under local anesthesia. The microwave energy was 50-70 W at a frequency of 2450 MHz. The treatment was performed by using ...

Microwave Tumor Ablation of Vertebral Bone Metastasis: A Case Report

Introduction: Thermal ablation by microwave (MWA) has proven efficacy in treatment of primary and metastatic cancers. Soft tissue tumors could be ablated completely using MWA. However, bony tissue metastasis particularly spinal vertebral metastasis ablation has not reported yet. Case presentation: A 50 year old male patient with primary diagnosed colon cancer undergone surgical resection of ...

Therapeutic Efficacy of Percutaneous Radiofrequency Ablation versus Microwave Ablation for Hepatocellular Carcinoma

The aim of this study was to investigate the therapeutic efficacy of percutaneous radiofrequency (RF) ablation versus microwave (MW) ablation for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) measuring ≤ 5 cm in greatest diameter. From January 2006 to December 2006, 78 patients had undergone RF ablation whereas 77 had undergone MW ablation. Complete ablation (CA), local tumour progression (LTP) and distant re...
